More Senior Project Ideas

 Please keep them coming!

The Senior Project is the culminating activity for I-Poly seniors where they demonstrate their skill in achieving state content standards in multiple subject areas and the I-Poly ESLRs. It is designed to allow the student maximal responsibility in determining the direction of their own education, turning over initiative for learning, as well as control of a majority of the content, to the student. Each person will gain the invaluable and incalculable experience of learning something simply because they want to and will know in the end that they deserve that sense of pride and accomplishment, which nobody can take from them. In a real and demonstrable way, the senior project fulfills the purpose of acquiring an education, a unique education that reinforces the value of one’s place as a member of a community and society, and still allows for extensive self-expression, creativity, and personal fulfillment.

1.Japanese food (the food itself)–well i would learn how to make it in the best possible way.
2.Radio brocasting–Learn how to do it and maybe make it my career.
3.theapist–like to find out what is the best way how to treat people with there problem and learn what it takes to be a theapist.cuz that what i set my career on.

    (1) Japanese Food

    Culinary projects work out:

    a. If you cook the food all the time during the year (60 hours worth-independent tasks)

    b. Work with an expert in the field for another 35 hours (at a restaurant)

We had a kid a few years ago that made food all the time for fellow students and staff (as part of their senior project). The students and staff paid for how much the food cost to make. He had a weekly menu.

    (2) Radio Broadcasting

Rosa worked with the Cal Poly group last year:

    (3) Therapist

The problem with this as a senior project is that it is difficult to find somewhere to complete your service learning. Therapists can’t include you in most of what they do because of privacy concerns and your age.

Ortega is talking about a peer counseling elective starting second semester. I recommend working with her on this idea and contacting other local schools about peer counseling support groups. You probably could volunteer at a different high school group.

There are also organizations you could work for depending on your focus. For instance, you could work at the suicide hotline (http://www.suicidehotlines.com/california.html) or project sister (http://www.projectsister.org/).

Hi, I have been wondering about senior project as well. After reading your responses to other people, I have noticed they were all in the Southern CA area. Do you know any places in Stockton, CA (northern CA) where i could do something in event planning or something in the medical field? Thanks!

    Blanche,

    (1) Medical Field

Many students (high school and college) are looking to volunteer at hospitals. I don’t know where you are specifically in Stockton (closer to Modesto, downtown, or on the way to Sacramento). Possible places:

    -San Joaquin Hospital (http://www.sjgeneralhospital.com/VolunteersAuxiliary.htm)
    -Dameron Hospital (http://www.dameronhospital.org/volunteer.shtml)

    (2) Wedding Planner

You could focus on a few different things with regard to events (the event, the photography, the music etc). Here are two certified wedding planners in Stockton:

    -Tender Lover Caring (http://www.mypartyplanner.com/vendors/Tender_Loving_Care_Weddings_65311.html)
    -Wish Wedding
