Senior Presentations

So far, here are some positives I have seen:

Kraig: It was well organized from start to finish. I liked the activities used to illustrate the importance of motivation.

Raul: He worked with students on a one on one basis, giving everybody the opportunity to practice the skills.

Jimmy: During his outside activity, he started to coach (teach) one team that needed a little bit of extra help.

Leslie: I liked the different demonstrations (finger prints, finding evidence with a black light). And of course, I liked the room set up she chose.

Laurie: She showed so much passion and knowledge about her topic throughout the presentation.

What stands out for you so far?

Sarzo’s presentation stood out because he actually got the class interested in the topic of asthma.

  2. 2 buddyB

Josh Robles was very knowledgable about his topic. He even managed to fend off Mr. Strands wild comments and questions.

  3. 3 Andrew Laffin

The sheer volume of food that Jasmine gave to us. She actually managed to incorporate it into her presentation well. She deserves an AE, Wann-Cao!

  4. 4 Brenda-West

Annalise’s presentation was well organized. She managed her time really well. Her catching fish activity fit with her essential question well, entertained the class, and allowed her to easily monitor us. It was a good activity.
And Stephanie showed such a great passion for yearbook. She did a good job in displaying what she learned this year. It was evident that she spent a great deal of effort into her topic all year long.

Frenchies Boxing one had us all fired up on fighting. Hers was interesting and very informative. I love the activities, not only were they fun but also applied to everyday life. We even learned some easy boxing moves.

Annalise was great. She held everyone’s interest. Brought new information to the table, not just obvious things. Her activities were really enjoyable and tied in very well. Her pictures she used were eye catching and helped to understand everything even more, every slide had at least one picture.

Josh Robles was amazing. His topic was extremely hard to give a presentation on it since it is so vast and complicated. He covered so much information within little time (even less since strand took up like 20 minutes!) while keeping the full attention of the class and actually getting through to everyone. All of us were able to understand what he was saying. His activities were fun and tied in very well.

Laurie’s Classic Car Restoration was so cool! I loved being in a different kind of environment. So much information and you kept our attention the whole time. I liked the activities and especially that you had everyone show each other. That was fun but also nice. I think in a way it lets us kinda bond. I like that since I won’t see anyone after June 9th.

Ok, so far I have seen 8 presentaions and have acutally enjoyed ALL 8! The first one I went to was Frenchie’s which was on boxing. It was so great! She made me VERY interested in boxing! She was EXTREMELY organized! She knew exactly what she was going to do and when she was going to do it. Still one of my favorite presentations.

Melanie’s is another favorite of mine because she was really passionate about her topic, gay rights. She also had a thought provoking activity! And it was the one where she had us go outside and have us walk like we had different moods. It really showed me how difficult it can be to have aids. I also learned from her presentaion that the LGBT community recieves A LOT of discrimination. Even more than I origianlly thought. Great job Dozy!

Stephanie (Muffin) is another standout. Out of all of the ones I have seen, I beleive she is the MOST PASSIONATE! She had so MUCH enthusiasm and REALLY knew what she was talking about. She had a great activity too! We designed our own yearbook layouts! She was just AMAZING! Oh and I also learned the most important thing. THE YEARBOOK IS NOT A SCRAPBOOK! haha! I love you Muffin!

Judson’s was one of the best I have seen! He was VERY passionate and was EXTREMELY KNOWLEDGEABLE about soccer! He KNEW what he was talking about! I also loved how he set up his presentation. He made it very interesting how he would talk about one of his answers then he would do an activity that tied in with it! He even made it into a mini World Cup with 3 rounds. Oh yea and we also sat in coutries that represent countries that play in the world cup! It was VERY WELL DONE!

Nicole Skinner’s also stood out to me since she was also very passionate. She was also REALLY PASSIONATE! I loved how she incorporated herself into her topic since it was Divorce & kids when it was something she had went though at a young age. She was also had a great activity! She matched people together who normally do not talk that much and she made them play that game where they would have to really trust the other person by trusting that the other person would catch them. It was tied in well with her presentaion since she talked about how kids that come from a divorced family have trust issues. Great Nicole!!! You did AMAZINGLY WELL!

They’re all different. In the ways they are presented, nothing alike.

I like that you really can’t expect much more than a topic and an anxious maybe even nervous speaker.
Nobody has flopped. All I hear are good things about so-and-so’s presentation, and I wouldn’t doubt any.
I can’t wait til I’m up there. I’m actually really anticipating it.

    Godspeed.

  8. 8 Brianna Root

So far the ones that I’ve seen have been really good. They all bring something different. They are all really diverse topics and the presenters made tht topics so much fun and had some very creative activities. Annalise is the first one that stood out to me. It was so organized and you could tell she knew a lot about ocean conservation and is passionate about it. Her activities made it easier to understand the topic and made it more fun. I learned a lot after going to hers.

Nicole is another that stuck out to me. Her topic was very close to home for her so she put some of her own experiences into the presentation. It made the whole presentation that much more enjoyable. The trust activity that she had us do was very well done. She really drove home the message that she wanted us to get. There was a lot of information and it was all organized.

The last one that stuck out was Jasmine. You could tell that she put a lot of hard work, dedication, and money into making her presentation the best. A lot of creativity went into it and the presentation itself had a lot of important information for planning a wedding. With all of the stuff that she brought and had us set up, it was very organized.

  9. 9 Rosa Pena

So far the only presentation that has stand out to me was jasmine whites 2-hr presentation on wedding planning. This presentation, no doubt deserved an AE if not an E. Not only did she spent a total of $350 on supplies and materials for her activities but when she spoke on her subject not only was she was not reading her slides like previous presentations but when she spoke you can tell there was much knowledge behind what she was actually saying. At first is seemed like she was too stressed and irritated with the class by stating “you guys are on my time” but overall you had much patience with the class because there were times when the class became rowdy but you were able to settle them down and get them how you wanted them. So kudos to you party buddy!! I liked how your activities were creative and got us to work in our groups but did not distract us from the lesson of the activities.

Jonathan Zavala presentation was a fun one too.
What I loved about his presentation is data he was so enthusiastic and exited to be sharing with us what he knew about skating that it made me get in a good mood tube in his presentation. His activities also allow us to show our creativeness in inventing our own skateboarding trick and naming it. I didn’t even realize data the presentation lasted the whole 2 hours.

I really loved Oscars presentation. It was obvious that he knew a lot about magic, not just how to do it but why people did it and how it all started (the history). He made even some of the biggest skeptics I.E. me jaw drop! I liked that he was honest and told us that most of it wasnt real. I liked his involvement with the students and techers. BUT I think the most imppresive thing Oscar did was preform while telling us about all the different kinds of magic. Its not easy doing magic while talking about something compltely different but he sure mastered it! Thanks for a great show and a well done presentation.

  11. 11 Chelsea

I’ve enjoyed many of the presentations so far. It is intere3sting to see how each person balances their “talk time” vs. their “activity time”, as well as the activities they chose to conduct.

I thought that Damian (Cabrera)’s activities were really hands on and involved the audience well. I thought that Melanie’s activities were really creative and forced the audience to really get into her topic. I absolutely loved Laurie’s display of her independent tasks because that car was gorgeous and she was really passionate about it. It was interesting to see how people were connected to their projects and I liked how Nicole really put herself out there and told us her story, it made it a lot easier to connect to her topic. I really liked how knowledgeable Taelyr was in her presentation and the fact that it was not just a project but a life style for her. And, I liked Rebekah’s display of her knowledge by signing throughout her presentation.

  12. 12 Nicole Skinner

The presentations that stuck out the most to me was Frenchie’s and Oscar’s. Their presentations were so good and well organized. Frenchie knew her topic and taught all of us some pretty cool things. I learned how to do a correct punch and how to jab and cross and hook.. it was so much fun.. I felt so pumped up after like I wanted to fight someone.. I didnt but I felt like it. And Oscar’s presentation was amazing. He knew his topic inside and out. He performed some cool tricks that I wish I knew. It just blew me away. All the presentations that I have been to have been so good. Good job senior class! But those two presentations so far have stuck out the most to me.

  13. 13 Cynthia Fajardo

Well currently the presentations i’ve seen have been really good. Yet the two that really topped it of were Jonathan Rodriguez’s and Raul’s. Both of them really explained their topics and were quite prepared. Also their activities really involved their audience, one of the best things was the fact that we could witness their passion and dedication to the topic. And i believe this is priceless. this really helps the audience get involved as well. Jonathan pulled off the real feeling of being in a run-way. everything from VIP status to classroom scenery. Everything just stood out and worked perfectly! you could really tell he put a lot of work into it.
Raul was really knowledgeable on his subject, and he stepped out his teaching role to be a coach. he coached us on kicking and other moves he was explaining. He really made sure everybody had a turn and really kept things under control, even if he did have a large audience.
Currently these two presentations have really incorporated everything the rubric acts for and have gone above in beyond. I’m really proud of everybody and for the others that are coming up Good Luck!

  14. 14 *Mayra C.*

I like all the presentations I attended. They all made me realize something i did not know previously, which is good. I was really interested in every single presentation and I think everyone is doing a great job so far. All the presenters surpricingly seemed as if they needed more time to talk and finish what they learned. I think that everyone deserves no less than a P, because I think a year’s work and research has definetly paid it off.

    Good Job Everyone..!!!

    C/O ’08..

  15. 15 Aaron Kapp

hmmm, what can i say that hasnt allready been said. they are all amazing, everyone put in a ton of effort, and frankly they will all be tough acts to follow. so far, all the people who have gone deserve no less than a p if not an ae. i cant mention any that stood out, because they were all so astronomically good that it would take too long to make sure that each one is properly praised. to all who have currently gone already: bravo, bravo.

  16. 16 Ralph Hernandez

As for me I enjoyed Jays because you can tell he really knew his stuff about music arrangement. He explained in detail about everything. And you can see the passion he has for it. Also the activity was entertaining because we were able to compose our own beats….even though they were all similar. Also he gave us many examples about sampling and making remixes which caught my attention. So i think that was the most impressive for me.Other than that everyother presentation was also great. Everyone knows everything they need to know about their topic which makes it great when explaining it to us.SO good job to everyone!

  17. 17 Mushelllle :]

    i liked mine.

ha ha i think they are all going swimmingly so far. we’re all naturally good presenters. we’ve been stuck at this school since we were 14… some of us 13, but we all know a thing or two about presentations, this is just a really long one. No stress. Honestly no presentations so far has really WOWED me. nope. just really good ones. Damian C’s was really good, because he KNEW his shit! he got that thing down! ahah and his activities were very clever and guaranteed that nobody else’s would be similar. i think everyone really put a whole lot of themselves into their project, which is really good, because it shows in the finished product. good job.
    :D

  18. 18 Grace T

all of these presentations have been really astonishing!!! you could tell by these presentations that the presentors have put a lot of dedication, time and effort to make it to what it was. the ones that to me really stood out the most, were jasmine’s, oscar’s and nicole skinner’s! i really liked that they each knew well about their topic and none of them needed note cards! =) also the activities that each represented. nicole’s tug-o-war was fun until it lasted! jasmine with the decorations, food testing and everything else. and for oscar’s showing us the different types of magic, the meaning and the types. all have been amazing! good job to all that have done it, and good luck to the upcoming ones!! =)

  19. 19 christine

in my opinion i really liked Cynthia’s presentation because she was so passionate about her topic and her activities were well thought out. Everything about her topic was educational and did emphasize public awareness about the issue which was sexual assault.

  20. 20 Lily M.

I think of everyone’s doing really well. It’s been a lot of fun seeing what everyone has come up with. Everyone of us has a really talent for presenting. So far all of the activities have been great. I’ve loved pretty much every minute–except for mine, where I almost peed myself with fear–. Since the first day with Damian’s to Oscar’s and Bekah’s today. Everyone has kicked some serious ass. Freaking Oscar man, that was same crazy crap dude. Wow. :P

I can’t wait to see all the ones coming up and I’m sure they’ll kick just as much ass! I’m enjoying it and I’m sure I will continue to… :P

  21. 21 Frenchie C

hahaha fun! okay so i liked so far brendas and nicoles…… they did have a topic that was quite difficult to pull of activities in which the class wouldt maybe be so confused….. they did outstanding good jog girls!!!!!!!!! others were well as well. i mean i give all seniors credit for pulling off a two hour presentation. its an advantage we have now against others.
I had fun doing my presentation. at first i was nervous and yes i did tear a little but it was because i was having a bad day. Samantha orozco helped me out by letting me punch the training bags with her, which helped a lot thanks sam =] i tried as much possible to keep my aidience entertained and not bored.
To sum it up GOOD JOB SENIORS!!!!!!
And good luck to those who havent gone.

  22. 22 jay north

So far the presentation that really stuck out was Judson’s because he had so much to talk about and he was very interested in his topic. He knew so much about soccer that i didn’t know and he used alot of examples that helped us understand what he was talking about. When he incorporated the whole activity into one game everyone was really into it. He made sure that everyone had fun and participated.

Another persons presentation that i really liked was Sam’s presentation about teen drinking. He really knew a lot about it, and i can tell he was serious when he was presenting. He used alot of emotion to make us get the information stuck in our heads. His activity was to talk about our experiences with this topic and he came up to each of our groups and talk to us. He gave alot of though into this project and i thought it turned out well.

But so far all the presentations have been good and i think there will be more good ones coming up.

  23. 23 Gabi M.- West

A few of the presentations have disappointed me, while a few really stood out and were impressive. You could tell how much work Jonathan Rodriguez put into his…he decorated the whole class and really made everyone in the room get into a fashion-y mood. Plus, his activities were directly linked to his essential question and were still really fun! Josh Robles was incredible…while it may not have been super-exciting to a lot of people, the fact that he retained that amount of information on such a random topic and managed to somewhat convey the point he had to the whole class was enough for me. His topic was very complicated, but extremely interesting. Cynthia’s presentation was pretty heartbreaking for me…the idea of pedophilia and sexual assault existing so fervently in our society scares the crap out of me, so that one hit me pretty hard. And although yearbook is not something I would normally want to sit down and listen to a lecture about, Stephanie’s presentation was very informative, fun, and made it apparent just how important yearbook is to her and to the nature of our school!

And of course, I liked my own. :) I’m not going to lie…I feel like I put in a whole lot of work and most importantly, taught the class a little bit about my own passion that hopefully changed the way they think about opera. :D

  24. 24 Amelia

i was really interested in cynthias presentation.
She was really passionate about what she was talking. She seemed to understand her topic really well.
    it was well organized =]
    and it wasnt boring haha

  25. 25 ~*MaRiSoL*~

everyone seems to be doing really well i just wish i could attend all of them, but thats impossible.

damian’s presenattion was really good, he let everyone know that he is really passionate about his topic and that he really enjoys it. he was well informed and his activities were really good i really like that he used a group activity with the puzzle and then he did another group acivity where everyone in the group had to do something. =]

raul’s presentation was pretty good. i loved his activities because he let everyone of us learn some of the skills that answer his essential question. =]

laurie seem really passionate as well as her family. i think that it was really nice of her to let us know how her family influence her in choosing her topic. i love the lil’ cars that we painted. =]

melanie’s- i liked both of the activities that she had. lol she made everyone marry someone from the same sex and the second activity made us realized how sometimes we judge or say things that might hurt ppl without realizing that we’re doing it. good job melanie. =]

oscar’s- omg this guy really had his stuff down. it was fun, entertaining and informative. i loved loved his presentation! really good job! =] i hope he becomes a great and famous magician. =]

I can keep going and say really good things about the presentations that i have attended but i think that everyone knows that they have done the best that they’ve could.

i mean everyone so far has done pretty well. i think that tey have showned the teachers the skills that we have learned here at i-poly. i just wish that all the teachers could see or get to see some of the others presentation. (maybe they could rotate) but that’s just me. im just ready for mine and im reall anxious to present mine to my peers and let them know how passionate i am about my topic and pass some of my knowledge to them. :)

congrats to those that have finish, and good luck to those that still have to cross the finish line!!!!

    :)

  26. 26 Irene-WEST

I think that all the presentations were good so far. All the ones I’ve went to, everyone knew their topic really well, considering we’ve been learning and researching on our topic for almost a year. You could tell everyone real hard as well :]

The ones that stood out for me so far were Judson’s and Rebekah’s. I liked how Judson incorporated his topic, soccer, to things like having team countries and rounds. I thought that by breaking the class into teams in order to win the “world cup” was a great idea because it encouraged the class to pay attention in order to get points.

I also liked Rebekah’s. I knew that she knew sign language before her presentation but when she started doing it during her presentation as she was talking, I was amazed. I never knew how fluent she was in it. I even remember the answer to her essential question because she emphasized it so much. It’s that we should treat the deaf culture fairly.

So yeah, good job to everyone who went so far :]

  27. 27 LEsLiE

Well i just have to congratulate everybody that already presented because each presenter has put a lot of time and thought into there presentation and now we are done with that. Well the ones that already went. All the presentations that i have gone to have been really good. However, some presentations have been just a little better than others. For Instance, Oscars was just amazing it was really awesome it made me want to be a magician, A lot of the tricks he demonstrated were really incredible. He had a good topic and he was able to take advantage of that and pull of a really good presentation good job Oscar! Another presentation that really stuck out t me was Judson’s his was really good as well. He just had a lot to talk about and it seemed that he could go on forever. It made soccer seem like the best sport to learn. I liked the way he did like his own video clip on what to do before a game and things you could do to improve your soccer skills. His little mini activities of the world cup were really fun and exciting because and it kept everybody awake since everybody was so competitive. I like the way he organized everything and the way he went step by step on teaching us the soccer skills. It was really well organized and he was really prepared. Well despite everything i think that all the presentations i seen so far have been really good. Well i just wish good luck to all the presenters who haven’t gone yet and well everybody keep up the good work!

  28. 28 Mike R.

So far, my favorite presentation would have to be Oscar’s. The presentation was perfect. It kept the class interested all while being informed. I also thought that the timing was great too. The way he was able to teach us a trick and trick us at the same time AND finish right before break really impressed me.

  29. 29 Alyssa S.

Ok well most of the presentaitons I have gone to were pretty well-done, and left me wit something new that I had learned. The 2 that most definitely stuck out the most was Cynthia’s and Jasmine’s. With Cynthia’s presentaion she gave many facts and had a good arguement. Nonetheless her topic was very appropriate for the females in the class since it is a problem that appies to us, and we should be informed and aware of. As for Jasmine’s presentation,in my opinion she has had the best hands-on presentation so far. The room set up and audience particiaption was very well done and fit in perfectly with every slide and section she presented.

Like I ssaid, everyone has done well so far. Good Job!

  30. 30 Rika

I feel like the lack explanation on what the two hour presentation is evident in almost all of the presentations we have seen so far. We got a rubric and we submitted a rough draft for our lesson plan, however many of us were unable to meet with house teachers to go over the actual requirements. I feel this lack of communication between the teachers and the students resulted in 2 hour presentations that were less then par. I feel a lot of the people were unsure as to how to approach the presentation. Its sad that the people in the beginning were counted down for unfulfilled requirements. I feel the presentations, like a lot of other projects this year, were unclear and needed more clarity.

  31. 31 Nikki Garavito -West

    Frenchie: Well organized
Lupe: I learned a lot about the benefits of running.
Laurie: I like how she was so interested in her topic
Raul: Involved everyone and worked with each person individually.
Peña: I liked his approach, it was as if you were taking a class.

I thought that overall, the presentations weren’t bad. Most of them seemed well thought out and organized although some weren’t as clear as others.

  32. 32 rebekah

ive enjoyed everyones i went to so far.
i liked oscars alot. he knew his stuff and kept the class invloved with his knowlege of magic.
i also liked damian cabrera’s because it wasnt just his senior topic he was presenting but you could tell he was really into it. plus his activities were hands on and it was pretty fun.
annalise did an amazing job! shes just an overall great presenter and throughout her entire presentation she kept everyone interested in ocean conservation.
i think everyones senior presentations are going pretty well
i cant wait to see more…

  33. 33 Robert Ovcharenko

All that i have been to so far were good. all, so far, have left a positive impact on me. all in my mind deserve at least a “p” if not more.

Jay”s was really cool. and to go early in the year, and have it go like that. He showed us how to mix songs and different sounds together, which just sounds complicated to someone who has never done such a thing, but he not only showed you how to do it, he also walked you trough doing it.

Judson’s was an incredible one as well. he old us what to do, he showed us what to do, then he made us do it. I never new there was so much that went into soccer, i thought it was just run and kick, but i was wrong.

so far those are the only ones that i can think of that were really well.

  34. 34 Susie west

All the presentations that ive seen have been great. everyone that has presented has shown knowledge towards their topic. As we all should. The one that stands out i believe is Annalise’s. Her activity was pretty amazing and i had fun. Also Frenchies, she knew her topic and her activities kept the whole class focused. over all, all the presentations have been great so far.

  35. 35 celise

The presentations that I like the most were ones that didn’t talk continuously and then have an activity at the end. I feel it’s really important to keep the audience as apart of the actual presentation as you can. Talking for thirty minutes straight really is a bore, actually having a sort of conversation with the audience was a lot more interesting. I liked Melanie’s marriage activity because everyone was involved and kept me interested the whole time plus it was exciting.

  36. 36 sara

There are still a lot of presentations I have not seen but from the ones I have seen I really liked Lily’s and Oscar’s. Lily had a lot of good information and I was not bored. Usually when people are purley talking on their topic it can get boring but in hers I was intrested. Along with being informative her activities were really creative and fun. Oscar also has really intresting research but I liked it because of all his examples. He would perform a magic trick for every type of magic. It was amazing.

  37. 37 briana ramirez

I am really surprised with all the presentations. Everyone seems really prepared and there is evidence of well thought out knowledge. Some activities seem more time consuming than they really should be because of the lack of sufficient timing. My favorite I would have to say is Laurie’s because she really did learn a lot and there was evidence of studied knowledge and passion. I am really enjoying all the presentations because i am learning a lot about certain topics that I would have never thought were interesting. I can now see why so many things interest people and where they are coming from. i believe that everyone deserves a lot of credit for all the work they have put into senior project because really we are doing this to graduate which is really important for everyone.

  38. 38 Chris Hitchman

So far, I haven’t seen one that is not good. A lot are full of information with fun activities. Real cool. I don’t have a favorite though.

  39. 39 Traci K

So far with the presentations I’ve seen the ones that stood out the most were…

Frenchie: She really got into her presentation, you could tell she enjoys boxing, and her activity was really fun.

Annalise: She was really knowledgable with her topic, she explained it well, and it really taught me things I didn’t know, and more about things I was aware of. Her activity was really cute, and went along well with her topic.

Laurie: It was cool that she brought her car and let us look at it, and I think painting our own cars was a cute idea, and she showed a lot of her interest that she has in her topic.

Jonathan R: His was really good. I like his set up in the class room, his fashionably late start, his press passes, and his acitivies were great.

Oscar: This is one of the one’s I was most excited for, it’s really cool to see someone our age and in person do magic as well as he can. And since magicians can’t reveal their tricks, he still was able to teach us for 30 minutues or however long his teaching was, about the different kinds of magic, what they consist of and stuff like that.

Gabi M: It was nice seeing how into her singing she is, and her room set us was nice, and her activities were fun…even though Martin Salazar and I can’t sing :P

And I’m proud of myself :)
I was nervous about my presentation, and I know I probably seemed it, but I’m really proud that I got up there and did my thing, and I really liked the turn out of my activity. I’m happy about my outcome.

And I wish everyone luck who hasn’t done their presentation yet, the feeling you have once you’re done is amazing. : )

  40. 40 Robert H.

So far, I’ve just been amazed on how much people know about their topics. Like I know we’ve known for a while whose topic was what and stuff like that, but we usually leave it at that. It was neat seeing people actually present on what they’ve learned throughout the year and how far they’ve progressed in knowledge of their topic.

  41. 41 eric

i agree with purther laurie did show so much passion towards her topic, i think that leslies and roberts (h) were the most involving so far. and overall they have all been interesting to be in, there were a couple that were a little sleepy but they made up for it in their activities, everyone has gone for one major goal to get the people in their class into their topic, which is the ideal goal. not too many of the ones i have attended have been bad presentations, and i look forward to doing my own, nervous but excited, and also to see everyone elses too. its a horrible thing to think about but enjoyable for others to experience it.

  42. 42 ryan north

i learned alot of stuff in most of the presentations that might be useful for the future. i like judsons presentation with his entertainin activities and quizzes. good soccer training video, was pretty tite. chris hitchmans power point was nice. like the effects. talked nonstop from the mornin till break then activty after break….nice. brandons today was good, funny video…

  43. 43 Brittany A.

The presentations I’ve seen so far were really good. But the one that has stood out to me the most was Gabi Martinez’s. Because I love Opera, and learned so much more about it through her presentation. Plus she had everything well organized, she showed how passionate she is about it, and the activities were fun! Another one that I liked was Annalise’s, she knew so much about the ocean and the harmful elements that hurt it, and I learned things that I didn’t know about before. And her activity was really creative, she did a really good job.

Also a few others that stood out to me were Jasmine’s (Beautiful center piece making!), Rebekah’s (I learned some new sign language), and Hans’ (The video game activity was awesome!). And there are many more to come!

  44. 44 Cristina.

I’ve liked pretty much all of them… =]
It’s amazing how much each of us know about our topic. So far the ones that have stood out the most to me have been… Oscar’s because it was amazing. He knew so much on the topic and knew how to perform it while presenting! I really enjoyed Rebekah’s topic and how she signed in sign language her presentation. Amazing! Stephanie’s because she was so passionate and creative with her activities and presentation. And Josh’s, even though I didn’t understand all of it since it was so complex but just that fact that he knew what he was talking about and actually knew what it meant was pretty mind blowing. haha… They all showed enthusiasm and you could tell they were really passionate about their topic.

  45. 45 RyanS

Jasmine’s preperation alone should have been enough to give her an AE, but if that wasnt ebough, her presentation was great as well. good job jasmine!

*but still if you think im being nice… SHUT YOUR MOUTH =]

also here are a few other people i think did a fantastic job:
    judson
    pena
    gabi m
    damian c
    michelle =]
    sam

  46. 46 Jacobo

They are all cool, a lot of useful info. Juds was cool, but enough people have already talked about it. i really liked robert O. because he kept on peer pressuring me into raising my hand and that is his presentation. but seriously his activities were really good and he explained his topic really well, and he gave many examples of his answers. but yea they are all good. i haven’t been disappointed yet, and i hope i won’t be. Really sucks that some people got AP’s or even P’s when you see the EFFORT and TIME they put in it. but that’s how it is. ooh well…

  47. 47 Cristina.

I’ve liked pretty much all of them… =]

  48. 48 raul ayala

all the presentations were dope, i liked juds the best though because i think i learned the most from it and it captivated me the most out of the rest. besides jasmines the food was good. i second would have to be susies, because it reminded me of how a class at my school is, even though some of the things she taught us i would greatley disagree on i really liked how it made me feel like i was in my own class, even the ill make you do push ups if you don’t shut up was accurate. im looking forward to some of the music presentations i signed up for yey

  49. 49 Robert Machado North

Jacob West had amazing props. His was on dirt biking and he brought an actual dirt bike! He then proceeded to show us how each different part effected the bike. I learned a great deal about his subject thanks to him. I would defiantly give him an AE.

  50. 50 Brandon-West

I think every presentation was good and you can see the hard effort put in the presentations, i really liked ahmeens presentation because it taught me alot about whats actually behind advertising, it was very informative, Also Jays was very interesting because you can tell he knew exactly what he was talking about and he had fun activites. I think every presentation I went to did not dissappoint

  51. 51 Monica Solis

So far I have liked Josh the most because he was able to break down such as complex topic in a matter that everyone could understand. He made it very interesting to all and question things that aren’t question very often. As well as, Oscar, Gabi, Judson and flipping houses. They were all very fun and the time flew by.

  52. 52 Oscar

So far, I have liked all the presentations, but the three that stood out in my mind the most were lily, annalise, and sarzo. Lily had a topic that, though interesting to me, may have been boring to others. But Lily made her presentation very interesting and fun. Her activities were a lot of fun and I really leanred alot about disabled children. Annalise had a great presentation with a lot of information and fun activities. Before her presentation, I didn’t know much about ocean conservation but now I now what I can do to help save the ocean and sea creatures. Finally, Sarzo had an asume presentation. At first, I wasn’t sure how much I would learn because I have asthma and I had already learned a lot about it. But I learned alot. He really knew a lot about his topic and he even sounded like a doctor. It was very impressive. Every one so far has done very well.

  53. 53 stephen flynn

pretty much all of the presentations were pretty cool… i liked judsons the best rauls the best… judsons because he gave a lot of good information that i never knew about soccer before… he seems like he would make a great soccer coach one day… and i liked raul’s because his was focus and had a lot of hands on learning, where everyone could pick up and have fun learning it.

  54. 54 Taelyr Patton

Ok I think a lot of people here are sugar coating the past week. Some were actually really good. I thought Brandon’s was going to be boring, but it had a really good activity and he seemed really knowledgeable of his topic. Also Lily’s was really good. I liked how she didn’t put her personal information out there, but still gave us the clarity on why she picked the topic. Others I thought had way too much activity time and leaned on there activities to carry their time. Others didn’t have enough activity time. Some were so boring I wanted to stab myself just to feel something. For the most part it seemed as if most people really got involved in there topic and were passionate about their topic. Others seemed like they needed to prepare more. But hey on a good note we are almost done and don’t have to do this “stuff” anymore.

  55. 55 martin R.

with all of the presentations that I’ve gone to, all of the presenters have put a new spin on how to present. lily gave the class a first hand experience with a disability, hans let us have out own gaming experience and oscar, with his amazing performance. For the most part, the presentations so far are very intimidating because they all went up with such confidence, whether it was all for show or was infact confidence. its been amazing and I can’t wait to see what else is in stored for upcoming presenters

good job and good luck guys!

  56. 56 abel.c

i was impressed with Robert o. presentation it was real short but he did it so well that i learned and plus his activities were fun and were actually on point with his topic

  57. 57 Ameen A.

so far everyones presentations have been amazing. I have to say though, i was most impressed with Josh’s because of the topic and his knowledge on the topic. Though it was his own opinion i felt that it was steering a right way. I have liked everyones presentations so far and good luck to everyone else who hasn’t gone yet!

  58. 58 Laurie -West

The presentations so far that I’ve gone to have been very interesting for the most part. However the ones that have stood out the most to me would have to be Jasmine’s and Rebekah’s. Jasmine’s was impressive, not only because of the crazy amount of money she spent on all the things she brought for the presentation, but because of the dedication I felt she had to her topic. I knew some things about wedding planning before, but there was SO much that she talked to us about that I didn’t, and she explained everything pretty thoroughly and her activities were really nice. I felt she balanced her time well and was very consistent, and was very honest with us about how she felt about it in terms of being a potential “career”.
Rebekah’s presentation was the other that stood out to me. I didn’t know about her family’s situation with her sister before this, and what really made an impact on me (and I’m sure on most of us who attended her presentation) was how she signed her whole presentation. I can’t imagine how difficult it must be to do that and think of what is supposed to be next on her agenda/plan for the presentation and make sure that she was telling us everything that she felt was key. I liked that she made packets for us with signs so that we could learn more on our own time, and I loved the activity where she had this thing playing where we were able to understand what it was like to have difficulty hearing. I also liked that she emphasized the importance of treating those with hearing disabilities as normal people, and just generally got our attention to stay with her. I think both her and Jasmine did a very good job. Even though Jasmine’s had its few tiny moments where the audience was rowdy because of the food, she tried hard enough to get them back to paying attention. I know its not her fault and rather that some people are just RUDE, and she really should have just kicked these people out, but she managed it well.

  59. 59 Kraig-West

i loved ameen’s presentation because it was informative and entertaining at the same time.

  60. 60 Rene

All the presentations have had good things about them but one that i was very pleased on was shizas presentation. She was really nervous at first but she managed to overcome that and presented very well on her topic.

Frenchies was the firts presentation i went to and she did a really good job she managed to make everyone participate on with her activities.

Gabi Martinez had the entire class sing to opera music that was pretty cool stuff to she made everyone of us.

All the presentations had some good stuff about it, but they werent all perfect some of my peers read of powerpoints and that didnt look so professional (i hope i dont do it)

  61. 61 Isaiah Lopez

Out of all the presentations that I have been to so far, i believe that the one that was the most creative and impressed me the most was Lily’s. From beginning to end her organization and creativity was absolutely flawless. Her activities were probably the most creative out of all the ones so far, and you could tell that she wasn’t BSing anything and that she actually put her heart into it because of her relationship with her sister. She deserves an AE, no doubt about it

  62. 62 Briana Bowen

I liked a lot of the presentations so far. I was impressed with how well a lot of the people knew their topics. Like Kraig’s presentation you could tell by the way he talked about coaching basketball that he really learned a lot about it. Also I like the way he did his activities because it got everybody involved and they were sort of fun. Also other people who knew a lot about their topic was Jay, Nicole, and Josh. For Sam B. presentation about teen drinking I thought he knew a lot about his topic and I also learned a lot of different laws that I never knew about before. I also like Judson’s and his activates because they really got you involved in his topic. You could also tell that he really knows a lot about his topic and enjoys playing soccer. But for the most part I think pretty much all of them were good. These presentations I guess really show you how much the person enjoyed researching and doing the different components for their topic.

  63. 63 Taurean

I reallly liked Brandon’s presentation on flipping houses because it was very informative and clear. The activity was also very interesting and fun. The clip that was played was also very entertaining

  64. 64 jessica

so far all the presentations i have gone to were very interesting and kept my attention throughout the whole time. I really like that all the presenters spoke loud and clear so it was easy for me to go along. I give props to frenchies and brandons activities because they were very fun and i could tell they put alot of effort into it. I havent really seen people decorate the classrooms but they still managed to throw out their topic vibe. i think all the presenters did great! good job everyone!!

p.s if anyone is in my physical fitness presentation be sure to dress comfortably to workout please…thank you!

  65. 65 Samantha O.

I thought some presentations ere pretty interesting!!! I know that Jasmine aka Booty really convinced me to hore her in the future for when I get married! She also proved how much work a wedding planner does and doesnt even get much credit for it. Then I do agree Raul did do good one on one teaching!!! I really like Frenchies game as well!!! I like how she got the whole audience involved for each of her activities!!! Same goes for Nicole!!! Good job you guys!!!

  66. 66 Josh E-WEST

the presentation that stood out to me was kraigs because his activities tied into his essential question. i like the fact that he had activities to compare and contrast the different outcomes of being motivated. also, the activity versus talking and not talking. i also liked the fact that he didn’t use a powerpoint because it showed that he knew a lot about his topic. and it was cool that he got his mentor to come as well who was actually a real basketball coach

  67. 67 Juan H.

In the beginning of the year as the teachers made the senior project sound extremely difficult, I didnt think that the 2 hours would be possible but now looking at some of the first presentations and how they are broken down, it dosnt seem that difficult because now I know my senior project well enough to present longer than the time limit. In reality you only have to speak for 30 minutes and the rest of the time is left for the activities. So far the presentaions i have seen are pretty interresting and some of the avtivities especially the sport related senoir presentaions were the best because it involved going outside. I cant wait till ya see my presentaion…!!!

  68. 68 AnDrea

So far everyone has been doing an amazing job, there really isnt any presentation i have gone that was boring or the person did not know much about their topic. The presentations that i have been to were really good!! such as Annalise, hers was very much organized and she knew so much about her topic and it was also very interesting. Everything she was explainging just flowed, and it was clear. I really learned alot from her presentation and the activity was very fun also! Another presentation that stood out for me was Oscars! He explained the different types of magic and demonstrated them to the class. i think magic is really cool so hes whole presentiation was well thought out and he presented very good! Hes activty was really good also,it was easy for everyone to try. You can tell oscar was very into hes topic and he has also been perfoming magic for a long time and you can tell because hes performance skill were amazing! but everyones else presentation was really good also! =]

  69. 69 Jonathan Rodriguez

A little late, but we all know it’s better late then never.

I was really impressed with Frenchie’s Presentation. I’m sure it must have been tough going first as you have no idea if you’re doing what you’re supposed to be doing as far as specifications, but did an amazing job. It was very engaging and was a pleasing start to the two hour presentations. Josh’s made my head hurt, but in a very good way. I also enjoyed the information given during Cynthia’s sexual assault presentation. I thought that Ameen did a really good job at keeping the class interested and involved with him and his presentation. I really liked that. We’re like half way done and I can’t wait to see what everyone else has in store.

  70. 70 arpa hachadourian

so far the presentations that have stood out the most have been rauls and ryan shore. both were extreamly interesting

and had fun activities. the lesson plan was great for both of the presntation

ohh and raul’s one on one practice really did enhance what he was trying to teach to the class.

  71. 71 Stephanie Van Zant[EAST]

I HONESTLY FEEL LIKE I HAVE LEARNED SO MUCH MORE THESE PAST FEW WEEKS THAN I HAVE THE ENTIRE SCHOOL YEAR.
I LOVE SEEING MY PEERS PRESENT ON SOMETHING THEY HAVE BEEN WORKING ON THE ENTIRE SCHOOL YEAR.
BY FAR, REBEKAH’S HAS BEEN MY FAVORITE.
SEEING HOW EVERYONE IS SO PASSIONATE ABOUT WHAT THEY’RE DOING IS AMAZING.

I HAVE ALWAYS LOVED THE PROJECTS AT OUR SCHOOL.
THEY’RE ALL DONE FOR A REASON AND HAVE SOME SORT OF REAL WORLD MEANING TO IT!
I HEAR ABOUT OTHER SCHOOLS AND THEIR SENIOR “FINAL”.
THEY GOT NOTHING ON US. :)

YOU REALLY SEE A DIFFERENT SIDE OF EVERYONE WHEN THEY’RE UP THERE AND THEY WANT TO TEACH EVERYTHING THEY KNOW AND THEY GET UPSET BECAUSE THEY DON’T HAVE ENOUGH TIME! IT’S REALLY COOL!

    I LOVE THESE PRESENTATIONS! :)

  72. 72 Josh R

I have enjoyed seeing people have too much information. I was in Stephanie’s Presentation and I liked how she didnt have enough time to even cover all the stuff she wanted. I think it was like three times, i dont have the time to teach you enough about copy, design, layout. It is just an amazing thing to see so much knowledge.
Oscar’s presentation has been by far the most interesting, but I think he has a little advantage on most of us. MAGIC!
I think one mark of a good senior project is when someone doesn’t need a power point, or the ability to just talk.
I hope all go well, and good luck everyone who still have to present!

  73. 73 Judson A

I liked Kraig’s because of the set up in the gym and the organization, I liked Lily’s because of the activiteis that showed her point really well, Brandon’s activity was perfect for showing us the risks involved in flipping houses and Ryan Shore’s was cool because of all the videos explainging his topic.

  74. 74 david orellana

my favorite presentations by far are josh robles’ and ryan shore’s. i loved joshes presentaion because things like that just realy interest me, they fascinate me, hey just grab my attention. the way he presented it was amazing as well. ryans presentaion interested me because im a guitar player and i really wanted to learn what ryan was going to teach, and im glad i went to his. he presented very smoothly and he was pretty chill.

  75. 75 danny

So far Tracy’s has been my favorite, to me it was very interesting and got me to think about trying out photography as a hobby. Her activity was really creative. Raul seemed the most pasionate on his topic throughout his presentation so far and he got most of his class into practicing MMA techniques. Jasmine’s presentation went well, we got to eat alot that day.

  76. 76 Priya Clark

OMG!!! These past weeks have been awesome! I think that as of Ipoly students we should be very proud of everyone! people that had a shell and wouldnt talk are presenting and blowing me out of the water. Loops has always been a quiet person but while i was at her presentation i saw a new loopy! she was more confident in herself and everything that she was saying. I have had a very wide renge of experience from make-up to boxing. I have learned to protect myself and how to protect the ocean. I have seen some projecs that have boomed but it just could have been nerves, but presenting isnt for everyone. (eventhough u should still be ready) Josh Estrada had to deal with a hot day but still mantained control of the class and still went on with his plan like nothing was wrong. Thats how things are suppose to happen! He was sweating like a gallon a minute but he didnt let that stop him! I loved Jonathans Fashion it was everything that I thought it would be and I am very proud of him! I didnt go to jasmine white’s but I know what went into it and it just provs that if we dont have friends we would be sooooo stressed out. Being there for our friends is very important. I think that as a class we have been very suportive with everone and have tried to help in any way possible! I am very proud of the class of 08! I LOVE EACH AND EVERYONE OF U!!!

  77. 77 RyanS

this past week i think mike c.’s presntation was the most interesting to me i really liked it.

i have learned a lot about a lot of different topics during senior presentations

my favorite presentations are the ones where i can see the excitment in the presenters face and hear the excitment in there voice

most of you guys are great =]

  78. 78 Sam Barker

    My personal favs:
    Pena
    Ryan S.
    Ryan N.
    Kraig
    Jud

Pena did a good job of setting up the class’s atmosphere. I really learned a lot, because he was so professional about his approach on his subject

Shore was just amazing. The videos had perfect explanations and his presentation was very well thought out.

Ryan did a good job of opening up his own little world. We got to see a side of Ryan outside of iPoly. It was a unique experience.

Kraig just knew so much. He had alot of passion built up and he finally let it all flow.
It was very well put together.

Jud! Holy crap it was amazing. Everything was perfectly timed and thought out. He knew tons of information and was wholly dedicated to his topic.

  79. 79 MiiSS. WATSON

LATE I KNOW BUT SO FAR I HAVE ENJOYED:

    - SAMANTHA
    - BRIANA

Samantha: She was very passionate about the topic, expecially since it really relates to her. I really enjoyed the activities on how to be positive to your child and what not. I was very happy to see that she brought her lil` girl, and btw shes soo cute. I think that it was just an overall good presentation.

Briana: Was very interestion, she vas very talkative, vibrant and she spoke very clearly. This is a side of briana I have never really seen before, because I have really never seen her cook. It was good she made somethign for everyone so we can she what she made, and it was actually pretty good; I even took a recipe card [ =

The presentations were very good, and I am really proud of all my classmates and the accomplishments that they have done throughout the year.

  80. 80 Rosa Pena

One presentation that stood out to me was ryans shores presentation on guitars. Personally i dont have any prior knowledge of guitars and honestly really dont care about guitars, but his presentation made it to where it was fun for EVeRYONE in the class Mucisians and non musicians. In the activitie she had people draw their own futureristic guitars and even play guitar hero. Again i dont understand y people like a game so lame..but it was fun seeing the competition beteween each student and how they REALLY got into the game and i mean REALLY got into the game!!

Oscars presentation was an all time favorite. I didnt even noe he knew anything about magic and had NO CLUE he was that good. NO wonder people were trying to bribe me 2 switch with them so that they can get into his presentation.ME and damien were AMAZED!! I didnt enjoy it as much as i thought i would because like a said, damien was sitting next to me and telling me how oscar was doing the magic tricks but he was AWESOME!!i loved tdat he showed us da different types of majic and even used students ans teachers as “contestants” for his presentation.

Lorence RObles was fun also. We were taught a choreography dat was made up by our fellow students in the classroom. I would have liked if we would have stretched previously because some of those dance moves were very fast paced ans tricky (especially when weraing sandals). but overall it was fun how we were wacky with the dance mooves and it wasnt sooo serious that you have to hit every step and you cant mess up. It was fun, it felt like a game and made me wanna dance after.

  81. 81 Jasmne

I have seen many presentations and I must say that the main one that stuck out to me would haft to be Sandra. Sandra R. had such a great presentation. Not only could you tell how informed she was about her topic which was breastfeeding. But she had great activities. I personally went out during break and told all my friends who weren’t her presentation how informed I was becoming on breastfeeding.
Personally I am really nervous when I say that ones presentation is good. Or went well. I look at many different things such as body language, eye contact, clarity in ones voice and how many times one says the words “ ummm, and like.”
If I recall I do not remember Sandra saying um or like. She was prepared she knew what she wanted us to learn understand appreciate when we left her classroom and she did a Great job. Eye contact, when she looked around the room, she made me feel like she knew I was in there and that she wanted my attention. Her activities, WOW! The whole cookie thing, really clever. The position to breast feeding was my favorite activity. But the one thing that really spoke to me was her body language. When she was up there, she had this vibe like, I know what I’m talking about, I’m confident, I did the research, I’m in control and I want you to pay attention. But in a very loving way. I think that Sandra was the only one, that I gave straight AE’s for everything. GREAT JOB!

But all around class of 2008, has done a really great job presenting. The topics that were picked this year were very interesting. From soccer, to fashion from fashion to sexual assault. Great job!

  82. 82 David.L

Sandra knew exaclty what she was talking about, and seemed to really be into her topic, especially since she’s never breastfed…

Josh R. for the sheer fact that he knew what he was talking about and could explaing things in a way that people could actually grasp what he was saying, even if only to a point.

Oscar had magic, you can’t beat that
