The human race will one day split into two separate species, an attractive, intelligent ruling elite and an underclass of dim-witted, ugly goblin-like creatures, according to a top scientist.
100,000 years into the future, sexual selection could mean that two distinct breeds of human will have developed.
The alarming prediction comes from evolutionary theorist Oliver Curry from the
These humans will be between 6ft and 7ft tall and they will live up to 120 years.
“Physical features will be driven by indicators of health, youth and fertility that men and women have evolved to look for in potential mates,” says the report, which suggests that advances in cosmetic surgery and other body modifying techniques will effectively homogenise our appearance.
Men will have symmetrical facial features, deeper voices and bigger penises, according to Curry in a report commissioned for men’s satellite TV channel Bravo.
Women will all have glossy hair, smooth hairless skin, large eyes and pert breasts, according to Curry.
Racial differences will be a thing of the past as interbreeding produces a single coffee-coloured skin tone.
The future for our descendants isn’t all long life, perfect bodies and chiselled features, however.
While humans will reach their peak in 1000 years’ time, 10,000 years later our reliance on technology will have begun to dramatically change our appearance.
Medicine will weaken our immune system and we will begin to appear more child-like.
Dr Curry said: “The report suggests that the future of man will be a story of the good, the bad and the ugly.
“While science and technology have the potential to create an ideal habitat for humanity over the next millennium, there is the possibility of a monumental genetic hangover over the subsequent millennia due to an over-reliance on technology reducing our natural capacity to resist disease, or our evolved ability to get along with each other.
“After that, things could get ugly, with the possible emergence of genetic ‘haves’ and ‘have-nots’.”
Dr Curry’s theory may strike a chord with readers who have read H G Wells’ classic novel The Time Machine, in particular his descriptions of the Eloi and the Morlock races.
In the 1895 book, the human race has evolved into two distinct species, the highly intelligent and wealthy Eloi and the frightening, animalistic Morlock who are destined to work underground to keep the Eloi happy.
This theory is really interesting. I understand how a scientist can come to this conclusion, and if it does happen it would be very fascinating. This change would take millions of years though. Evolution is not something that happens over night. I’m pretty sure that the time it takes for these species to come about is ample enough time to destroy our world first. With our gas consumption and the depleting sources of natural materials, our world is being annihilated. We don’t have enough time to evolve into some crazy subspecies before we all die out. Save the world, and then maybe these subhuman species will arise, but until then, I don’t think that it is much to worry about.
I agree, I think that this is very interesting. It seems that Dr. Curry is basing this conclusion on our current patterns and habits and the technology that we in present day. In the future we will have developed new technologies and ways of keeping us young looking or improving our appearances. I agree with the theory in that people in the future will have more “desirable” traits and longer life expectancies, since we are always finding new ways of improving and preserving ourselves with surgeries and drugs etc. The chances of the human race splitting in two are slim, in my opinion, but not impossible. This change will occur long after our lifetimes, and the lives of our children and grandchildren, so we just have to let evolution take its course. You would think that all of the movies and stories created about this futuristic society, like H.G. Wells’ Time Machine, would have taught us not let this happen to our society.
OMG i didnt ever think that other people thought something like this would ever happen. The thought that the human species will divide into two races. The pretty beautiful smart ones, and the dumber ugly ones. I dont believe something like that would ever really happen. In fact i think that in the future there wont be any discrimination against races or such things like that. People will learn to come to agreements and see beyond their physical featurs. With all the other problems that we have, there will be a need to learn to work together in order to overcome.
That’s an interesting idea. I do agree with the theory that we will evolve, but I don’t think that the human race will split into two different groups. Today, people are living much longer than they were in the past. It really is amazing what we can do with modern medicine. Doctors are able to keep a person alive even though they have absolutely no brain activity. Many infections and diseases that would have killed many in the past can be cured easily with prescribed antibiotics or surgeries. In the future, people will be living for a very long time. I don’t agree with the theory that our immune system will weaken. In the past, people would constantly die from the chicken pox but like our appearances, our immune system has also evolved. Today, when a child gets the chicken pox, they live and are generally unaffected by it. As we evolve, so will the diseases, infections and parasites that infect our body. One example of this is the AIDS virus. HIV is a type of virus known as the retrovirus. This type of virus has the ability to quickly mutate to keep itself from being destroyed by our immune system. I believe that in the future, there will be more retroviruses attacking our body. I have read The Time Machine, and I don’t think that will be our future.
Personally I dont think this will happen. First of all, we aren’t taking very good care of the earth and it will eventually vanish. Second, the world separating humans into two different kinds of races seems too unreal. Third, there are many other things that need to be taken into consideration like trying to change the social structure now so that people have an equal chance of opportunity for progression. I guess we just have to let things happen because eventually things will start to change. Our major goal is mainly to start changing things for the good.
well, according to that evolution chain, it’s something like, monkey, ape, caveman, human, etc..whatever. then all of a sudden people become 8 feet tall and are giant gorilla like creatures. i think it’s interesting how it almost seems as if it goes in a circle.
i’ve never really thought about how things would look in the future. i’ve never thought about what the people would look like, or what the technology would be like.
i don’r know how accurate this idea would be in the end though. back in the 50s people though that we would have flying cars by 2000 and that we would live on the moon and all of that stuff. but there’s not anything like that now, sure the technology has gotten very high tech and very futuristic, but not nearly as much as they thought it would be. how can we really trust this guys hypothesis?

what if something happens like another great depression making technology go back another 1000 years or something.
i don’t know, but i think that you can’t really predict something that far into the future.
I think this idea sounds very intelligent. Ive given alot of thought on evoltuion and on how it functions. I belive that Dr. Curry is the new Charles Darwin. Many people are going to witness this great evolutionary change. Just think about it every race would interbreed and create a sigle human breed that sounds a little insane, but thats what people thought of with Darwin. And to think that technology is going to be a part of an averge humans vital needs sounds a bit scary for me. Just think about it half our body parts might not even belong to us, we might have mechanical organs that would work for us. We have mechanical limbs now a days. The future is unpredictable but just think about the past “theorist” who were claimed to think they were insane by saying that the world was round. This man could be predicting the truth about the human race. Our future holds many exciting changes we might even crossbreed with other species from other planets who knows.
I think hte idea is very unorthidox. The only reason why is what is the reason for us to say on earth so long if it is our time to go then let us be gone. But then again there are people that want to stay their life time. Honestly it does not make sense in reality us humans only need to be on earth for two thing and tha is to make babies and over populate the earths well being. To me this sounds like every star wars planet, a upper class society living above group and a ugly deformed class of people living below, pretty funny. At this point in time this theroy seems pretty far out, seeing that evolution as stated by charles darwin is a load of crap. I would like to see all this ” research”.
But on this two separate species idea, i dont really know what to say about it. It might happen some variables will be how the world in ran way in the furture, at this point in time it seems crazy, but in time it might happen.
i really like this theory, i think its possible to occur especially the part where it speaks about our immune systems dying out and becoming weak against virus that we could simply fight off if we weren’t so reliant on medicine. i was reading through some of the other responses, and i stumbled upon one of my fellow classmates making a brief statement that our world would have already died, due to lack of natural resources and what not. but i believe that in the last 100 years our technological advancements have been so rapid that in another 100, or 200, or even 300 years, i’m sure we could find new resources. start finding ways to colonize the moon, the planets. even if my theory’s seem far fetched and misunderstood. i think that our intelligence is based more on how a man survives and now on how many numbers he can multiply and divide in a short amount of time. i also believe that we may not even become 2 races, maybe just 1 race. because within those 2 races there will always be conflict if its not about skin color, it will be about hair, eye size etc. our world will forever have this problem, and i think that is the major conflict that is tearing us apart at that time. so if the world ever died out i’m pretty sure it wouldn’t be because of loss of resources but because of us killing each other. but all in all the theory could work, i mean all science is, is theory’s. so you cant say it will or wont happen but its something unique to wonder over if you’re having a boring day and need something to thing about i guess.
This is a really crazy theory. I dont persanally believe that is even possible for it to be a seperation of races. Specially not between beautiful smart people and ugly stupid people. i mean how is that even possible if beautiful people tend to get with ugly people and some times is that an ugly person and another ugly person get together so the baby is probably going to eb ugly right? i know that an evolution is a long proccess but this is the only thing i disagree with, the seperation of races. i some how think that the rest of th theory is true, because people are living much longer now, so i do belive that may be when years go by people are going to live much monger than we do now, but i am also not sure about the tallnest, for what i can see now i think that people are getting shorter and shorter by the minute. i dont believe that everyone is going be 6 to 7 feet tall when people this days are like 4’10 to 5’5 average!
i believe that in 1000 years from there arent gonna be any racist problems like there were in the past and like the ones that there are now! if this theory were really true i think that it will really suck because the beautiful people would dominate the world and the ugly people would just be made fun of by the beautiful people. so the world would suck if this happens! people would really have to get together to overcome whatever happens during does years but can this be possible if only one race is smart and the other one isnt how can they really work this problems out?
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, i dont think that the human race will evolve like that. in the book time machine, i seem to remember the morlock being the intelligent ones and the eloi being kinda on the wrong end of that bell curve, but i could be wrong cuz it has been a while . and besides the human race, if it still exists, would probably be living on another planet or maybe on Titan and have the technology to separate and combine elements in any way that we happen to need. that is assuming we are still alive after all those years. personally i think that we are going to be wiped out by something before that happens.
This idea sounds really unusual and impossible. But who knows it might be possible. It’s really interesting to hear about though. But like I read in Celise’s response, we have to take care of our earth first and not use up all our resources and such and kill off the earth, because without our natural resources, we won’t have anything to survive on. And like in Raul’s response with our technological advancements we’ll probably end up finding some other resources, or probably find some way to make our own, or fix/keep them. Who knows what will happen, but if we want to keep our earth supplied, we have to consider the damage were doing to the environment and fix and work on that so we can keep our planet clean and safe for ourselves, our children, and their future generations.
Wow. I think that it is very interesting to see how far the imagination of man can go. You know people also thought that by now we would be flying around in hovering cars, but as we can see that has not happened either.

That seems so farfetched like he pulled it out of the air or some old book that we would read in class. Now when he made statement such as “advances in cosmetic surgery and other body modifying techniques will effectively homogenize our appearance.” I was like now I do agree with that. If we continue to alter ourselves we will change. For example when the Chinese tried to shrink their feet by cramming them into small shoes, eventually they began to have smaller feet. So that part I do agree with, but the rest of that stuff just seems like he pulled it out a dream he had one night. And I do agree about the coffee colored person, that as well seems like it can be scientifically proven, but the rest of that seems like crap. I would definitely love to see some scientific proof to that theory. I think that guy needs to come out of his lab.
For the most part I think he needs to give more information on where he is pulling these ideas from, and a small amount of things I think may actually be possible.
Oh and his ideas on what women and men will look like just makes him seem like an old pervert!!!!
Well I do find Dr. Curry’s theory very intriguing, but I highly doubt it will happen, or at least not in the near future. But who knows? It might be possible. I don’t think the races will separate into the categories of beautiful and unattractive and height. I don’t think this idea has enough facts or research to be able to predict the future or evolution. But as I said before, it might occur in a few centuries, who know right? Maybe the technology we have today might evolve and everything Dr. Curry said might occur. But I’m still skeptical about this theory, but evolution takes a long to occur so we might be saved from this unusual world…
I think this is a really crazy theory because who would of thought that in 1000 years from now everything can be really different. Like for instence to the pont where everybody can be beautiful and handsome well not everyone because of course they still have to have the ugly people in the world. However, that is something i dont really understand why would they only make certain people beautiful and handsome but then again still make ugly people after. Why cant they make everybody pretty and handsome? I believe that they are going to do that for a reason i think that they are going to want to test if the beautiful people can dominate the world but i think ofcourse they would because they are going to feel like they have all the power over the ugly people. However, i believe everybody is beautiful in their own way so i dont think that the separation of the two differet races is going to work out really well. I also dont understand how the future persons are going to be a ceratin height like 6″ to 7″ feet how is that going to be possible? if now a days the average height is like 5″ feet, that is going to be really weird. I think that the future is going to be really different to than what we are living in now this days. I think every generation deserves a change and i belive that is what they are going to try to do which is great. However, i like the way my genereation is now eventough its a little more crazy then the last generation.
I am one that loves science and the theory of evelution. This right here just blows my mind. The fact that the human race will split into 2 seperate species is a great theory. This theory should have been expected to come up over time beause of how humans are still evolveing today. Though the goblin like creatures is kind of a little crazy. Yeah there will be the good looking and the ugly, but so ugly that they look like goblins come on. There are ugly people in the world, that’s true, but I don’t think that they are going to get progressivally uglier. The article says that cosmetic surgury will be a big factor for the beautiful people, but it can also work for the ugly. Yes I do believe that the human race will evolve into a new species as it has in the past, but I don’t think that it will be a goblin vs. Jennifer Lopez in the ms. america contest, if you catch my drift.
i think that these are some pretty interesting ideas to think through. i really dont think that this will be happening but in the end everything might even happen. i would probably think that people would be determied as pretty and handsome.. lets say for example, the most beautiful couple have the ugliest baby what will end up happening to the baby? would that child become a disgrace to the family or what would end up happening to the baby? instead of having discrimination against the different races or cultures, we will have discrimination against pretty vs. ugly. i guess everyone is just “pretty ” or “beautiful” in their own way either on the inside or the outside.. i also think that people are already “dividing” themselves against the ugly and pretty. take “ugly” girls for example, they would want try to do everything even the impossible to make themselves “pretty”. but now lets see if this theory is actually going to happened.
I think it will happen. Definitely. But let’s go off subject. In Jurassic Park, even though the male’s were genetically extinct, nature still found a way. In this situation, I think we might come across similar results where a super-genetically altered species will exist, rise to power, and then fall horrible due to disease, because of their low immune system strength.
But the whole theory sounds not original at all. Take Gattaca for example. Same thing, but a lot sooner. I really believe it all to start in the very near future. Maybe even our own lifetimes. Who knows?

If men are 6ft and 7ft tall it makes sense to have bigger penises and have deeper voices. As for the skin tone its true because of people marriage out side their race.

In my opinon, these seems very impossible. For the past 1000 years humans hav not changed that drasticly. The only main improvments that changes our world form the world of the past are are new technology in communiataions and in science.

the only way i see this happining is if scientist actually try to create a super human of the future. Science we have now is so amazingly good that is a little horrific that they can do some of the things they do. in example soon people can live as long as they want and as long as they have deep pockests. Scientists are working with stem cells to create artificial organs. they use a persons stem cells to form them into, lets say skin tissue. Then there will be no problem with teh organ not functiong with the body beacause it is from the same human. Soon they will be able to make artifical livers, kidnies, and even hearts. All scientists have to do is learn to manipulate the stem cell into beleiving it is the cell you woud like it to be.
You see, this why i tink the human race is not going to turn into some super human with weird faces and gew instead of blood. i beleive that there is enough being done and enough technology right now that we can advance our selves in society with turning in to mutants.

In theory it this idea of evolution to a grand plateau appears plausible however, when all other factors are considered, the idea is quite ridiculous. I find one major problem with the theory presented by Oliver Curry and that is the idea contradicts itself. Curry suggests that do to natural selection people, only the strong will survive and in a sense enslave the week. History however has shown us that this is not the case. Genetic variation is the foundation of mankind’s survival. For example, smallpox can effect only those with genetics that make the susceptible however those with the variable gene that made the immune were not. To suggest that the human race will reach a genetic plateau is suggesting that it will someday end due to a mass error. It is error in our conception, an imperfect pattern in genetics, which makes us as a species able to survive. Since I am not an expert on genetics i will not argue the scientific impossibilities but I do defend the point that history and the need for survival argue against the beliefs of Oliver Curry.
This is a crazy theory. Although I do agree with the part in which the immune systems and such become so weakened that we are more child like, the idea that the human race can be split in two groups ugly and pretty is blasphemy!I am aware that evolution is soon to take place but I seriously doubt that our evolution will have anything to do with a mans penis size or a womans breast size. If the human race is able to survive until the year 3000, I think things might actually be like this. We already are able to do so much with our technology today. Its only a short time until we are going to be able to do the unimaginable.
I think that if we were to all think about what lies in the future for mankind, we might come up with similar possibilities. Therefore I don’t think anything this man has said is worth losing sleep over. Only time will tell, and we can only hope and do the best now to better help future generations.
the theory is interesting and may have some reason but i believe the it is not likely to happen. the article says that there will be an ugly race and a perfect one. there will probably be some really ugly people in the future but not so drastically to be considered another race. we the people are becoming more and more reliant on technology and i do believe that one day it will get the best of us. in junior high i see many kids (six graders) that are taller than the six graders that were in my grade when i was a six grader, and as the years pass i see kids from junior high getting bigger and bigger. conversely i also see kids getting shorter and shorter. so there is no way of knowing whether the average height will reach 7 feet. It is very reasonable to say that the racism will reach racial equality. i never knew technology could change our race.
Well, this theory does seem like it is possible with all of the information that Dr. Curry provided. Since we have evolved into what we are today i guess it can only be said that we will evolve into something better and the part with the medication can be true with the fact that human beings today are reliant on the medicine that we use to treat everything. The part about the two different spieces is a little doubtful though because how about the people in between? Dr. Curry only mentions the high and the low but what about the middle? are they eliminated from the whole race? So overall that’s the only doubt i have about the theory. But everything else from the hieght to the immune system theory works and can be debatable.
Wow the things people think of these days. There are so many theories by so many scientist about the future of humanity. I dont think that we will peak to some limit. We can do anything if we work hard and learn more. To say something like that sounds like a defeatist attitude to me. Everyone should know by now that you can’t have to extreme opposities because society will collapse on itself. However there are things that i agree to like the weaking of the immune systems it seems more resonable compared to the rest of his fantasy. I also think we will be able to live much longer because we will eventually be able to replace organs.
