Nuclear Power: Is it an alternative?
2 Comments Published by clay October 1st, 2007 in International, State and Local Politics, U.S. Politics.Nuclear Energy. Removal of Prohibitions on the Construction of Nuclear Power Plants. Statute.
Summary Date:
Proponent: Chuck DeVore (949) 413-4472
This initiative will:
(1) repeals restrictions on state approval of construction of nuclear power plants
(2) repeals the state process regarding nuclear waste storage
(3) acceptance of federally-approved storage methods
(4) creates restrictions regarding nuclear power plant discharge of waste into areas which are seismically active (fault lines) and biologically sensitive (navigable rivers)
Fiscal Impact:
Unknown, largely paid for by fees charged to new power plants that are constructed
Potentially in the millions in environmental cleanup
Questions this raises:
Why the French like Nuclear Power
I hear many individuals talking about investing in alternative resources. Are they talking about nuclear power? Or are we more focused on other alternatives?
Do you support additional restrictions on constructions of new power plants?
Do you think it will increase or decrease our investment in nuclear power (an alternative energy source)?
Should the state invest more in nuclear power? Why or why not?

Nuclear Energy is not a an alternative or renewable energy. It is not pollution free and its source is just as finite as fossil fuels. Nuclear energy may be cleaner than solar or wind, but I don’t see any reason that large amounts of time and resources be directed its way.
i dont know too much about nuclear energy other than what comes on the simpsons, just kidding. but i read on how France is doing so well with nuceal energy and if they can do it i dont see why we cant. and for what josh said, it sounds like fossil and nuclear fuels are equal and we are in need of energy sources so if we have more nuclear plants to generate energy than tha would double our energy sources wich would make it cheaper for us, right? and at this moment in most of our lives we need things such as energy for as cheep as we can get it. its not going to get any cheaper without us having to do something. i wish i wouldve looked more into nuclear energy to try and defend my stance but i also wanted to respond to another kind of blog having to do with energy but there werent any other kinds.
