Problem/Project Based Learning

Classroom teachers, parents, and students should demand applicable learning in the classroom. I can’t tell the number of things I have learned in a classroom I have never used. I support the change to problem/project based learning (PBL) in all classrooms. I have been using PBL for four years now and compared to my own experience as a student, I am impressed with the difference. It leads to students being more focused on the task at hand and increased motivation. PBL also changes the mind-set of the teacher and student and leads to numerous other benefits outside of the classroom. To support PBL, I use a shorten version of Bloom’s Taxonomy called the LIA.

L = Literal
I = Interpretive
A= Applied
