I haven’t decided yet who I plan to vote for in the 2008 election. I have been disappointed in election coverage for five reasons.

(1) CNN covers Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama only. They ignore the other Democratic candidates and only mention the negative of a few major Republican candidates. It has become about how Hillary will win rather than a competitive field discussing ideas.

(2) The debates and discussions have not included two important issues. And if they are discussed, moderators allow candidates to not answer (by not calling on them) or to duck the question by answering something else or giving such a general response it could mean anything.

(3) The major candidates, specifically, Hillary Clinton, makes comments that are down right scary. In her case, she keeps saying “I am the candidate of change,” but does not really tell us how. It should be obvious to all she is part of the power structure and a vote for her is more of the same. However, it is not, many support her. I am dumbfounded.

(4) Spending is out of control and nobody seems to care when candidates talk about their grand plans to spend more (which won’t solve a thing). Candidates are making promises but the only result will be more loans and an increased dependency on foreign countries, such as China.

(5) The two most important issues to me are being ignored. First, I am concerned with our ever lowering standard of living. Many parts of Southern California are turning into a third-world country. Where is the middle class? Since I have started working, I have dropped from the middle class to the lower-middle class. Republican and Democratic policies (Federal and State) have led to the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer. The current outcome is a declining superpower. I don’t blame Bush only for this. The Democrats have run the state of California into the ground for the past fifty years. The other issue I am concerned about is the border. Since my wife legally immigrated here, I have noticed the numerous problems at the southern border.

Thus, I am waiting for a candidate to step-up and hoping that we do not get more of the same (Hillary Clinton) in 2008.
