Barry Bonds: The New Homerun King

Barry, Barry, Barry! This is all I hear sports talk radio talking about. Most are convinced he took steroids, while many ignore the fact that it was not a rule. Is this important? Is the new home record tainted?

I have been a San Diego Padres fan my whole life. Matter of fact, I like all San Diego teams (Chargers, Clippers). Yes I know the Clippers are in LA now. However, when I was younger they were in San Diego and my father took me to San Diego games.

I was happy Bonds did not break the record against the Padres. I was happy for the Padres and Bonds. I wanted to see Bonds break the record at home. I wanted the see the SF fans cheer for a cheat. Wait a minute! He didn’t cheat. Or did he?

The best solution I heard on the problem came from Dennis Miller. No seriously! He said Bonds should have tied the record and then retired. He would still be the homerun king; just he would share the spotlight with Aaron. This would have been a respectful way to go and probably would have stopped the cheat conversation in its tracks.
